(Anaheim, CA) At Winter NAMM 2016, Sensaphonics announces the expansion its 3D AARO system with the introduction of the 3D-U universal-fit ambient earphones. The new model brings the full functionality of the 3D AARO system to a wider audience at a more affordable price.

The sleek, jet-black 3D-U ambient earphones are available in dual and single-driver versions, utilizing the same proprietary full-range drivers as the tour-proven custom models. Similarly, they contain the same embedded binaural microphone system to add controlled, natural ambience to the mix. The 3D-U also marks the introduction of an industry first, the SensaQuad™ quadraxial cable, providing secure connection and easy field replacement. A “fit kit” of foam and rubber earpiece tips is included, ensuring a good fit and high-isolation seal.

“Developing this new product was really driven by customer demand,” says company founder and president, Dr. Michael Santucci. “Everyone who tries the 3D AARO loves it, but not everyone can afford it. The 3D-U allows us to deliver all the advantages of our Active Ambient technology at a lower price, and the universal fit design means one system can serve multiple users – something that houses of worship and sound rental companies have been asking for.”

With its patented Active Ambient technology, the 3D AARO system provides full situational awareness, an extremely useful feature both on stage and off. The ambient earphones capture sound around the user at levels up to 140 dB with no distortion and zero latency, combining it with the monitor mix as desired via the system’s compact bodypack mixer. So with both 3D-U earpieces in place, the user can still hear everything around them with directional accuracy in all three dimensions – left/right, front/back, and up/down – with both earpieces in place. Thus the name: 3D.

The 3D-U brings the full 3D AARO feature set to the universal-fit user, including a stereo Record Out jack for the ambient mic signal, Bass Boost switch, switchable limiter, and instnt access to Full Ambient mode for easy conversation with both earphones in place. These features make 3D AARO the most versatile IEM system on the market, with applications in studio sessions, DJ gigs, and live recording of rehearsals and concerts. They also work great as variable-level, high fidelity earplugs.
